What’s in comic stores tomorrow? First off, the decidedly controversial Before Watchmen miniseries kick off with Darwyn Cooke’s Minutemen, which highlights the crimefighters of the 1940s. You can check out our interview with Cooke about this series here.

(Honestly, I’m put out nobody decided to sign off on either an After Watchmen comic — showcasing the further thrilling adventures of “The Squid” — or a Before Watchmen series about the Tijuana Bible printing house that distributed those bootleg Silk Spectre porno comics.)

Two other debuts this week include author Si Spurrier’s Extermination (“In the wake of an apocalyptic alien invasion, the world’s greatest super-heroes and deadliest super-villains must form an alliance to prevent their own extermination”) and Valiant Entertainment’s reboot of the psionic superhero Harbinger (preview here).

Other books on the stands include new issues of Action Comics, Fury MAX, Animal Man, Dial H, Sweet Tooth, The Boys, and Avengers Vs. X-Men. You can also check out previews of this week’s issues of Swamp Thing, 30 Days of Night, and Earth 2 — here’s our interview with series writer James Robinson about the Green Lantern coming out of the closet.

As far as bookshelf material goes, there’s the Star Wars Omnibus: Droids and Ewoks for those of you looking for a Saturday morning fix.

There’s also the eleventh volume of The Boys, the sixteenth volume of The Walking Dead, and the final DMZ trade paperback.

And as usual, here’s the list of everything being released to comic stores tomorrow, and you can find your nearest comic retailer here. Happy reading, gang!
