Io9 2025 Spoiler warning

Summoner

THR reports Kevin Bacon will star in Summoner, the directorial debut of Mortal Kombat II screenwriter, Jeremy Slater. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios alongside Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s Nocturna, the story concerns “an exorcist named Jefferson Haddock (Bacon), who is called into an isolated witness protection property to deal with a terrifying demon, accidentally unleashing a force that threatens to end him and everything around him.”

Homewreckers

Deadline reports Supergirl director Craig Gillespie is now in talks to helm Homewreckers, a “twisty, erotic sci-fi thriller for Legendary” starring Glen Powell. Based on a novella by Neil Paik, World of Reel claims the story “revolves around Beth and Henry (Powell), a struggling couple whose marriage—strained by suspicion, emotional distance, and regret—begins to unravel. As Henry becomes consumed by the idea that Beth is seeing someone else, she is offered a surreal opportunity to rekindle her romance with a younger version of Henry through advanced AI technology.”

Flesh of the Gods

According to both World of Reel and the Kristen Stewart fan account, Team K, filming has already wrapped on Panos Cosmatos’ Flesh of the Gods after just a month of filming. The film stars Stewart and Wagner Moura as Alex and Raoul, “a married couple in glittering ’80s L.A. who descend each evening from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into an electric nighttime realm. When they cross paths with the mysterious and enigmatic Nameless and her hard-partying crew, Raoul and Alex are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills and violence.”

Digger

The first teaser for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Digger—a dark sci-fi comedy in which Tom Cruise plays a Texas oil tycoon who puts it upon himself to save the world from a deadly glacier named “Judy”—is teed up by a full two-and-a-half minutes of footage from earlier Tom Cruise movies.

Jack-O 2

The 1995 direct-to-video horror movie about a pumpkin-headed scarecrow, Jack-O, enjoys a belated sequel in the trailer for Jack-O 2 starring Annah Arias and Sybil Danning.

The X-Files

During a recent interview with Virgin Radio UK (via Screen Rant), Himesh Patel addressed why he believes Ryan Coogler’s new X-Files series still hasn’t been officially ordered to series.

Fingers crossed it will go on the right journey… I think it’s just not wanting… to rush it, especially when it’s a property like The X-Files that is so precious to people… [It would be great if the reboot ran for many years] if you’ve got the story to tell.

My Adventures With Superman

Finally, Superman intervenes before Hank “Cyborg Superman” Henshaw can pulverize Silver Banshee in a clip from “All’s Fair in Love and W.O.R.M.S.”, this Saturday’s new episode of My Adventures With Superman.
