My first thought after seeing this 15-inch LCD panel with DVD from Toshiba was, “Of course! A decent VGA monitor that doubles as a somewhat portable movie player. How lovely. I need a snack,” but as I looked at it, it seemed as if it actually doesn’t have VGA ins, so … why not? It absolutely kills me to have all these perfectly decent LCD televisions unable to accept a VGA signal. In the past, sure, it made sense. Television CRTs were huge but had awful resolution and computer CRTs were small and had high resolution, but that’s increasingly not the case. Anyway, just as I got really confused, I noticed this diagram at the bottom, which if I’m interpreting correctly means the Toshiba SD-P5000 can, through a series of intricate MPEG encodings and I/P processes, turn a DVD into a fish. Oh, okay then, no VGA forgiven.
