Thanko Limited today announced a new 2.5-inch hard drive case dubbed the “Victoria 120,” which uses a combination of fingerprint recognition and hardware level encryption in an attempt to secure your precious data from third parties. The model including a 20GB hard drive costs about $260 USD, so all I can say is “use sparingly.”
Thankfully, Thanko has applied a bit of forward thinking to the product; it uses hardware level encryption, including the boot sector, so if someone were to bust out your hard drive from its fingerprint prison, they still wouldn’t be able to access your junk too easily. As always, trust no one, especially us.
