Now that Michael Chabon has won a Hugo, we've completed the process of claiming him as a science fiction author. So who's next? Which author, currently considered "mainstream," should dip his or her pen into the protoplasmic inkwell of science fiction?
Man do I not want to see more middlebrow authors "gracing" sci-fi with their nonsense. What passes for mainstream literature is not for me, no sir. I do really like the noted fantasy author "Gabriel Garcia Marquez." His works of fabulist fiction have a certain Borges tint to them that appeals.
