Halloween or thereabouts seems to be the word from the Interweb on the launch of the Xbox 2. Not so much news for the Americas, where it’s been presumed that it would be released before the year’s end, but something for our friends across the pond to get excited about nonetheless. Games Industry also includes an interesting speculation from Nintendo that Microsoft is pushing their next-gen console so soon because they’re no longer profiting from the current cycle—it’s hard to say, considering the Xbox has been selling at a good clip for the last year. Whether an early launch for Xbox 2 is a smart move or another Dreamcast debacle remains to be seen.
