Today at Comic Con, Microsoft announced that their Xbox 360 HD DVD add-on would drop $20 to $179. We guess they mean "at all retailers" because we've seen that price before. In addition, buyers between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30 will be able to pick five free movies—though out of a collection of just 15 popular titles.

This new deal is similar to the existing $299 player with five free movies offer that's been out for some time, though obviously the combination of this "price drop" and some free flicks makes for a reasonable upgrade. Personally, I'd rather see Xbox LIVE get a decent downloadable movie collection that consisted of more than Beerfest and Beerfest II: The Hangover.

SAN DIEGO, July 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Today at Comic-Con International 2007, Microsoft Corp. announced it will lower the price of the popular Xbox 360(TM) HD DVD Player from $199 to $179 ERP (United States only) starting Aug. 1, 2007, and will add five free HD DVD movies for anyone purchasing an Xbox 360 HD DVD Player between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30. In addition, Microsoft further solidified the Xbox 360 as the ultimate high-definition (HD) entertainment platform, with key announcements around the HD DVD launches of "300" from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group and "Heroes: Season 1" from Universal Studios.

Well does any1 really buy HD Dvd drives...........

To my knowledge they're not that popular.

I'd rather just pay the extra $50 for a PS3 and i get more from a PS3 than XBox 360.

Only thing is that the internet service for a PS3 is trash.

They said its good but i've had bad experiences with it.

(XBox 360 "Fully Loaded" Not elite with HD DVD is what a PS3 costs and you get Blu-Ray)
