This is the standard XBOX Wireless Gaming Controller available for years. With two AA batteries, you should get around 40 hours of use, and they also come in the packaging. A textured surface surrounds the triggers, the bumpers, and the rear shell, so the controller will stay firmly in your hand when you’re playing through long sessions. On the left face of the controller, there’s a hybrid D-pad, and in the middle there’s a Share button. On the upper edge of the controller there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port.

Head over to Amazon to get the XBOX Wireless Gaming Controller for just $52, down from its usual price of $65. That’s a $13 discount and 20% off.

A sturdy controller perfect for use with any Xbox title and then some

The wireless controller doesn’t pair with just an Xbox. This is why many gamers purchase this product even if they don’t have a console at home. It can be paired with a variety of products, including an Xbox Series X, an Xbox Series S, an Xbox One, a Windows-based PC, an Android smartphone or tablet, and an Apple iPhone or iPad. Xbox Wireless handles pairing with the console, and all other devices use Bluetooth for pairing. With that said, a smartphone mounted on a clip becomes a portable handheld gaming device for anyone who plays cloud games.

The hybrid D-pad is shaped like a shallow dish. Each direction has its own distinct location on the surface, allowing easy diagonal movement while providing the same accuracy as a standard cross pattern. This pad design benefits fighting game players and anyone who needs frequent directional movement during gameplay. Rolling your thumb around the center of the D-pad allows smoother diagonal movement than using the individual corners of a plus symbol.

Textured grip is the other physical change from older Xbox controllers. Microsoft added a dotted pattern to the triggers, the bumpers, and the entire back case, which keeps your fingers from sliding around once your hands warm up partway through a session. The sculpted surfaces and refined geometry Microsoft mentions are about the same thing: the controller sits more comfortably in a wider range of hand sizes.

The Share button sits between the two thumbsticks, and a single press takes a screenshot, while holding it down records a clip of what just happened. That used to require a menu or a voice command, and having a dedicated button makes it something you actually use.

You can customize your buttons in the Xbox Accessories app, where you can change how they work and create profiles for different games. This controller also has a USB-C port for charging or wired play. You can buy the XBOX Wireless Gaming Controller today for $52, down from its normal price of $65. Please note that this product comes without a USB-C cable.
