XDA IIs, IIi

PDA makers O2 have announced their intention to launch an update to their popular XDA II Pocket PC/Windows Mobile/Phone Thingy, dubbed the XDA IIs. In addition to a boosted battery life, an upgraded 1.3-megapixel camera, a faster 520MHz processor, and all the GSM/GPRS/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth radio brainmelt from before, the IIs is reported to have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which is fantastic if the real deal, but none of the pictures on TekGuru actually show it. In fact, the whole thing could be just a convoluted hoax, and I’d be too gullible to realize otherwise. I’m so confused!

Presuming the world isn’t full of hateful liars, though, it looks like the IIs should be launching in the UK later this year – with a quad-band radio, though, so US import should work just fine. Oh, and they too will be using BlackBerry’s Connect software, which is good, if you like email.

Update: I sort of bungled this one, but TheReg set me straight. The IIs will be similar to T-Mobile’s existing MDA III, while the IIi will be the one with the better camera and better keyboard. (Thanks to everybody who checked my head.)
