The most anticipated cyborg-amputee movie of 2008, Japan’s The Machine Girl, is out on DVD, and here’s the opening scene. It pretty much sets the tone: blood spurting everywhere, improbably fancy gore, and brain-curdling dialogue. (Sorry about the English dubbing.) But my favorite sequence, where the amputee Ami learns to be a super-fighter and first gains her prosthetic machine-gun arm, is below. (First clip is only work-safe if your coworkers love splattery blood.)
