Here's a heartwarming story for you this morning. Seems a Botswanan company called Godisa Technologies has found a way to make a low-cost hearing aid for the developing world called the SolarAid—using a solar charger. Strangely enough, Godisa is Africa's only hearing aid manufacturer, and the SolarAid uses what the company calls "the first No. 13 rechargeable button battery." The entire product, including solar charger and an extra pair of batteries, sells for less than $100 and should last for about 2-3 years. And in the spirit of sharing, Godisa is asking the government if it can make its design open source.
