Battery Recalls Cost Sony More Than PS3?

We've been telling you about all those Sony battery recalls for a long time now, knowing all along that it was costing Sony a bundle...and honestly laughing a bit as we baked pie graphs about the horrifying ordeal.

The total is in at a whopping $429 million in Sony's latest year-end profit forecast. To put this in perspective, the PS3 only lost the company $366 million. (Though, we admit, this loss might be offset by PS2 profits, depending how Sony did the math within their gaming division). Amazingly, Sony still intends to profit by $14 million in 2006. Wow, they make some money over there.
