Whaaaaat?!
1024X768 and I'd buy one.
That Eee in the picture must be owned by a real collector, it's still got the plastic protector taped to the screen.
I'm not sure why people are so surprised about the fact that the Eee runs "real" software. It's basically just a two/three year old laptop made tiny. Anything that can run on a 2-3 year old basic laptop can run on the Eee (I enjoy Lego Star Wars on mine, perhaps I should add it to the thread)
I'm on an Eee PC, so just hold still while I bludgeon you.
I'm going to go ahead and give this thread a big:
SO WHAT!!!!
I'm tired of hearing about what this asus eee pc can do/can't do. Its got a small screen that I would loath playing anything on, and the performance is NOTHING to be desired. So its customizable... big whoop. I'd rather spend my $399.99 on a phenom chip/mobo combo and play with some real hardware.
Sweet. Can anyone verify the Asus XG Station project is dead? I'm going to CES next week and I'll be looking for it, but I have a feeling it's gone. I really like that idea.
cool. I just keep wanting one of this little things!
Perhaps advancements in the area of ultra-cheap laptops will give birth to the $500 gaming PC/laptop. Imagine the Eee PC with $100 worth of graphics hardware in it. Still affordable and now a much more viable proposition.
Keeping in mind that to get playable framerates (ie around 20-25) you need to use Windows. Playing WoW on Wine I get a constant 2.5 FPS, even with all the registry hacks and a dedicated X Server.
@tehronin:
then shut the fuck up and get the fuck out of here and don't read it, and god damn it MATT TAKE THE FUCKING GUN AWAY FROM TEHRONINS HEAD RIGHT NOW!
too much? why does hiding the naughty words in an abbreviation make it less acidic? "STFU and GTFO" vs "shut the fuck up and get the fuck out"
the difference is astounding.
makes the joke at the end flow better, though.
@tehronin:
Whoops - didn't realize you were so new here. But generally complaining about a post and how you don't want to hear about it, yeah that's generally frowned upon, FYI.
better than my macbook 8-)
You'd have to pick and install one game at a time with 8G max. Especially with some of the map caching of some MMOs.
16G is the sweet spot, IMO.
@tehronin:
so, yeah, next time - i might be a little less polite about it.
WoW kills.
It killed a bunch of koreans. It'll be the americans next.
@nutbastard: Did you forget to take your medication? Funny stuff though.
@nutbastard:
Maybe you should 'stfu and gtfo'. You're just trolling and spamming.
ON TOPIC: I want a eee but i'll get a macbook eventually.
@Rob C: Not to mention the Chinese. Man they just play to death...literally...
Is the eee PC the really little computer with all those little cute accessories?
Whoo! Asus! Coming in and kicking ass on people's expectations!
On an only vaguely related note, I was in the Galeria's Sony Style store a few days ago. Saw some spiffy, small laptops. But they were like.... $2k. It was saddening, before I came up with an appropriate witty comment comparing it to the Eee PC. And then my fanboy ego was stroked.
Woah. I've never heard of those...
Now I kind of want one...
but will it play Doom?
eeeboys... the whole lot of ya, cept of course tehronnins he's too cool for this discussion.
WOW on an Eee PC = cheapest way to be lifeless on the move (in my opinion)
Nah, I'm not too cool. I can just think of better ways, "in my opinion", to blow 400 bucks.
Yes, but can it load Crysis? Wait.. hell Big blue can't load crysis.
Can someone post the framerate you get while in Shatt please.
I would like to see how it performs.
@Reilaos, Original Asus Fanboy:
You mean the Houston Galleria SonyStyle? Those are the Vaio TZs, but I'm tired of all the people compared it to the EEE. Since your an Asus fanboy, look at the Asus U1F/U1E, 11.1" notebook like the TZ and costs around $2000 as well. These 10/11" ultraportables cost a pretty penny.
The EEE is too small for me in screen size and storage for me, and it is incredibly popular, cheap for an ultraportable and can do many of the things the Vaio TZ can do.
Picked up a 4G for my 6 yr old kid, it is simple, boots quick and we can chat on Skype. Not a computer I'd want to use all day every day, but we are happy with it. Seemed like a great Christmas present.
Now my kid will get addicted WoW, what a shame.
are you sure this isnt the new ipod for mac world in feb! if so will I am gonna need bigger jeans!
But will it blend?
@tehronin: except that you can't get eee's form factor...
I will stake my non-existent psychiatric credentials on nutbastard suffering from a multiple personality disorder.
@Pixlmonkey:
what? no, come on, i love you guys. shut up. SHUT UP SHUT UP I LOVE YOU!
woah, what? blacked out.
@kumuasata:
i just love how mr n00b calls the #3 top commenter on gizmodo a spammer and troll. but don't worry, i won't let it go to my head. just don't ever forget that im better than you.
@nutbastard: top commentor doesn't mean you offer content, you're just a psammer if I posted 6 useless comments per article I would be a "Top Spammer" too.
On Subject it is kinda cool to see lots of stuff about a non apple/power user/expensive product. Eee looks to have alot of potential beyond the original intention.
