We'll give it an A for effort. But man, this "Pimp My Dell" case mod is...well let's just say that it has "Dell" written in rhinestones. And it's covered in what we believe to be 35% of the world's supply of gold spray paint. The "pimp inside" logo, however, is admittedly fantastic.
For those who love Cadillacs and what is sure to be a few years worth of paint-high, today is your day. For those who to know what's actually under the hood, hit the jump.

Yeah, it's kind of a clunker. There's basically a gerbil running around, powering Ubuntu in between frantic sips of his water bottle. [bestcasescenario via gizmowatch]

Kinda fitting, though I wouldn't spend time (or that much gold spray paint) on specs like those.
Digital Riceburner!!!!
I now have the inspiration for never-ending tears when I turn emo. ...and possibly a reason to cut myself :-)
Well, I'm sure it could have been uglier, but I can't currently imagine how.
Looks like a 50s Vacuum cleaner ;)
@outlanderssc: The only thing it needs now is a $2.50 "Type R" sticker, and the performance of this machine ought to go through the roof!
Chav Computing unveils it's 2008 product line...
I'm a gear head by nature and I really can't remember the last time I saw a Caddy with any kind of hood scoop on it but hey whatever blows your hair back......
And not unlike the real pimp my ride, where I wouldn't let those wankers touch my ride with a 10' candy painted, cheesy graphic laden, pleather covered, flip out pole, they aren't touching my PC either.
Is this what they're teaching in Vocational Tech schools in this country now?
PROOF....
That no amount of money can buy you tastefulness...
I have a bunch of these old dells. I need some gold spray paint.
jesus that is a clunker! my 3 year old laptop has superior hardware... 'cept the hard drive...
to each his own, but at least clean the damn thing before you take photos of it. fingerprints all over the chrome would never go over well at NOPI...
Fanboys.
There, someone had to say it.
that's not a cadillac pc, this is a cadillac pc: [forums.bit-tech.net]
Dude my chemistry professor had a Dell with that style case back when Windows 95 was all the rage. We played Quake on it against my physics professor and pwned him hard. Though the gold hurts my eyes it's still better than 'claw-my-eyes-out-and-slit-my-throut-with-a-spoon-grey' that the original style sported.
craptastic!
WOW i have a laptop from tne 98 that has better specs.
Pitiful
Wow this computercould have a way better configuration.
Im guessing that this person had a whole bunch of toys and just started takinq pieces off.
I'd say add a celeron processor with atleast 2ghz and add 1GB of ram and a version of XP and it'd boost the performance by a long shot.
I say that whoever built this should hang themselves.
Or if not then seriously consider stop trying to be cool and wear regular people clothes instead of wearing baggy jeans a t-shirts that are 3 sizes too big.
OR atleast upgrade to trendy.
Atleast it gave me a good laugh.
wow wat a piece of shit
I've got an old dell xps, mabe I should blingify it.
Props on putting Linux inside, perhaps the only good decision made. Putty gray, in the closet for maximum appearance points.
Man that system is pretty old. I work for Dell tech support (although I'm not a real fan of the company), and we discontinued that model back at the dawn of the century.
Round cables are so inexpensive these days...
I hope this was a joke.
you're doing it wrong.
Is there a Lincoln variant?
I don't care how much you pimp those machines they are still a blight upon computers. They did the stupidest things like forgetting which PS/2 port was a mouse and which was a keyboard at the weirdest moments. Dell doesn't suck, but they did until a few years ago since all their computers were picky about when they wanted to work right. On top of that their case designs were clunky and horrible for the longest time.
About the time their cases started getting better was about the same time they stopped hiring Americans to answer phones for them.
I may be from Texas, but I don't like Dell.
what is this for?
