Everyone remembers ICQ, the first widely-used instant messaging application that's all but dead in most of the world now. The Israeli software company that developed the suite before it was purchased by AOL has just partnered with a big Israeli pharmacy company called CTS to release this ICQ toothpaste, which our tipster claims will "help P2P communication (person to person) while reducing bad breath." Weird, yet really really cool. On a related note, I've got a low six-digit ICQ number. How long is yours? [Thanks Nir!]

OMG .. I lost my virginity to ICQ!
lol just like their icon, I got deflowered lol
I think everyone lost their virginity to ICQ.
BTW - How low of a six digit number do you have? I got 176xxx. :D
low 7 digit number
I got six digits, thing is I don't remember them :)
I had a 6-digit #... but it got stolen!! Yeah, a few years after ICQ became popular someone stole my account... and I lost contact with my friends whom I used ICQ to keep in touch with. I still remember my number... 401884
143XXXX, but I haven't used it in years. One of the ICQ 2000 versions broke something and I just never went back. :(
About an inch and a half, unless it's really cold. Wait, you mean my ICQ number? Ohhh...awkward...
Mine was 2900XXX - 7 digits, but low. I remember laughing at the 8 digit numbers. I wonder if my old number and password will still work...I wonder who all my friends were on my list.
sadly i have an 8 digit numbers... i remember seeing 9 and i believe 10 digit numbers show up near the end. the end being when i stopped using ICQ for people in the office and just set up a Jabber server. the only people i know that still use ICQ are Russians. and one former co-worker who just kept using the one i gave him.
Low 7 digit number. I still use it with Trillian, but next to noone I know uses it anymore.
God, it's been so long, i totally forget my number. Almost 9 years since i've used it.
Mine is 158XXX, does that mean I win? Err.. maybe that means I lose. Heck I have 4 digit slashdot number...
206815116 is my number, but I don't think I've ever talked to anyone with it. Feel free to IM me though, I'm on it with Adium all the time.
I have a 7 digit. I keep it online on Trillian but NEVER use it.
I do still remember it like any other phone number and even work it in to some of my passwords.
Mine is 6# starts with 623xxx whooo what a blast that was WAYY back 4 or 5 years ago!!
261656. Haven't used it in years.
I had a six digit one too. 5622xx i believe. It's been years though!
Six digit UIN, one of the first half million users, back in 1996 :) I still have it and still use it.
17982xx 7 digits. I was young.
317729611... Guess i'm not one of the six digit cool kids :(
8548129
That is mine.
Have not used it in about six years.
didnt know it was almost dead. i actually just made my first account today :-P
Low six digits, of course.
Mine is 92XXXX , and i still use it (Miranda client). Why not? since most of my friends still use it...It's also better than bloat MSN service. It's also never offline, compared to MSN service.
Ah, the glory days of ICQ. I have a low seven digit job, 206XXXX that I've had for as long as I can remember. Not that I ever sign into ICQ anymore (even if Trilian supports it)...
2245XXX - I miss the old ICQ days.
oh the fun that was had with icq. anyone else remember "not" using win-nuke, etc? 15949xxx. 8-digits.
low six... 124xxx to be imprecise.
I am disturbed by the placement of the flower behind the guy who's rocking out on their package.
I'm so ashamed of being an Israeli right now..
I got you all beat. 598358. Haven't used it in probably 10 years.
Lower 6-digit 258xxx. Do I get a free Xbox?
...hopefully it won't give you a virus, the way so many anonymous users on ICQ seem to want to these days.
1246799 :)
this is a dumb as beer shampoo.
48888392
6 digits: 179xxx. And I remembered it without even trying. Crazy! Those were the good old days.
680900 - have not used it in years.
6 in the 130s. My friend had a 5'er. Ah... the good old days before Russians decided they always wanted to be my friend and asked me to cash checks for them.
I'm pretty sure I had one in the 5-6 digit range but long, long forgot it.
Your six-digit number will go for about $60 in Russia, they get stolen quite a lot. Numbers like 100691 are considered "GOLDEN", and may go for up to $100.
heh, this is nothing. we have the "Google Toilet-bowl freshner"
nine digit for me, #131480241, always using it thanks to the jabber protocol & the services transports offered (see njs.netlab.cz)
2022677
I'd say ICQ is THE most popular IM in Germany... some use MSN as well, but AIM is only known to a ver very few people.
I'm a low 7 - 115xxxx. My sister claims to have had her account stolen for her 'low' number, but I don't remember what it was. I've got a couple of folks who still use it.
ICQ was a bastion of viruses and spam. I had an account but quickly deleted it and will never use another instant messenger as long as I own a computer.
I loved ICQ! It had so much more functionality than AIM, at least when AIM first came out. I haven't used it in ages, but I had a low 70*** number. BUT! My friend who introduced me to ICQ was 10,000-something.
another 6 digit here 362XXX, I remember the days where I would chat to 6-7 people on icq in the same time, in different chat windows.
628XXX here. AIM is hardly used here in Toronto (and assume most of Canada). Most of my conversations occur over MSN.
Beat you all with 9 digits. xxx323600. I put xxx because I can't remember it.
Low 7:
130XXX
Believe it or not, I HAD a 4 digit ICQ number, starting with 8, but I forgot it years ago...
Yea, I know.
Did I mention I've hated instant messaging since about the second time someone tried to use it to get free Windowz support out of me.
I haven't used the client in years, but my wife and I still use ICQ accounts to talk during the day via Miranda. I highly recommend Miranda, especially if you like software with a size that can still be measured in KB instead of MB or GB.
@AndyGoodwin: 125xxx, but i rarely use icq anymore.
366XXX ... I used to be so proud of that.
"uh oh!..."
that sound still haunts me.
hey does anyone still have that sound in .wav format somewhere? that would make an awesome mobile phone new message sound...
wow icq. I wish it hadn't died thanks to Microsoft bundling MSN with every version of windows so that the technotards youth were like "I IM with msn because I didnt have to download anything" Weak!!! 247XXXX peace!
lol I had a 5 digit, 21629 :][
I had a friend who had an eight-digit number but he only had to remember the first 4 digits as the last 4 were a mirror image of the first! I was so envious! lol
@Kobe_No_Means_No: Why would someone steal an IM account? They're free, for heavens sakes.
Mine's 106xxxx, but I really don't care who's got a lower number than I do. I just care that the few people I know who only use ICQ (I'm on a number of different networks, thanks to Adium) know that number.
@nintendude: Yeah, my cellphone-use-only ICQ account is only slightly rememberable due to a number of double digits, e.g. 1223344551 (I kid you not, that's the pattern, not the actual number).
I still use mine occasionally, but I don't use the program, just the ICQ transport built into Pandion.
/I'm IMing you all!
5554295... I had that back in the mid-90s, when the hell did you all sign up?
179*** - I signed up in 1994 or 1995. I used to give it out when i met someone like normal people would a phone number.
mine is 7 digits, but starts w/ my area code, then all zeros - how rare is that?
I signed up in 1997 when I got my first computer... that was grade 9 for me.
I had a low 8 digit. I remember Win nuking people, and having weird IM's from random people. I used it up until my first year of college in 2002, until I phased it out since more people had MSN by then. No one in canada uses AIM for some reason. Maybe if they changed it to Canada Online it would have caught on.
