They say that inventors should find a need and fill it. I don't know who needs a solar boosted pedal boat, but a design concept for one exists nonetheless. The boat features a center cockpit where up to four passengers can sit, alternating pedaling duties in two-person shifts. When you get tired (which should be after only a few minutes), switching to solar power can help lighten the load. I'm not sure if this concept will ever see the light of day, but in a world filled with non-solar powered pedal boats, it would be a welcome improvement. Video after the break.

DId a manatee come up with this idea? Remember that time we went on my solar powered pedal boat with Mohammed?
Be even better if it stole some of that pedalling power to charge the battery as well. I imagine that would allow a larger-capacity battery than just the solar charging alone would, and allow for _some_ laziness on a cloudy day.
Ps. "I'm not sure if this concept will ever see the light of day" = ar ar/yuk yuk
Sucks that solar is expensive as all crap.
Amazing time we live in.
What's next? WIND powered boats?!
@BaseVilliN: Boats that harness the weather of the wind? MADNESS!, why you would need some sort of sail device to capture that wind, making some sort of "sail boat" if you will. surely these technologies do not exist.
John Mayer here.
@ILikeMacsWhatAboutIT: I'm pretty sure if manatees designed it, this boat would not have any blades on the propeller [as shown in the third pic]...

Reportedly it's not a concept anymore as the designer further developed the project with the Numero Design agency.
Why did I expect to see some young Jedi doing a swan dive off the side and not a kid.
That is the sexiest idea for a cute first date ever. Come awn!
