In order to beat the increasingly heavy cheap subnotebook competition from Acer, HP and everyone's mother to the market, Asus is pushing its Eee PC 900 out the door a month earlier than originally scheduled, according to our favorite Asian rumor mill, DigiTimes. They were set to launch in June, but Asus is speeding it up to May,
even initially foregoing Intel's hot new Atom chipset so it can yell "first!" [DigiTimes]

first!
damn
The big screen alone may snag me indefinitely, and putting the camera on the bezel of the display. Bellissimo.
@antidayjob: Don't people get banned for this shit now? lol
After seeing how nice the HP subnotebook is... this one looks kinda cheap.
It *is* cheap. That's kinda the point. :P
Who gives a shit? Did you see that new Iron Man trailer? FOOK!
@chopstickhero: Compared to the HP this one is kinda cheap. As in, you could buy like three of them for the price of the HP.
A whole THIRTY DAYS!!! OMG THAT'S A TIMEWARP!
@Kaiser-Machead: true, but buchanan started it.
This is the first time seeing the 900 it doesn't look too bad.
First, I waited close to a year between first hearing about these and actually being able to buy one.
Then I heard about the 9" screen in the works and I've been waiting since then for this to roll out.
Then Intel has to go and debut the Atom late enough that I'll have to wait for the next iteration of these subnotebooks. Damn you, Intel!
Considering the Eee 701 outperforms the HP, Asus is still the top dog in my opinion.
This may look cheaper than the HP subnotebook, but it doesn't have that retarded ass side-mounted trackpad button nonsense, and though the Eee has a few cheapo points here and there for flimsy fit n' finish, it certainly looks nicer, though the HP has some faux Powerbook 12" going on.
why can't they ever put a freaking link to the product page in the article so I can easily check the stats...
I click the 'Eee PC 900' link and all I get is: less information back when it was originally revealed...
I want to learn about the item itself, I don't give a flying rats ass about gizmodo's previous coverage of it!
So, I guess I'll just nav away from gizmodo to google eee pc 900...
Dang it! Why do *I* have to lift the spoon?
Somebody should just turn up and feed me!
Were the ones in JUNE/JULY goign to have atom? IF so, it dosnt make sense to be first just to be first - if you are gong to have a better product.
Po0pOo
@Cobolman2: Screw you, kid! Make your own spoon!
@Cobolman2: @Reilaos~:
There IS no spoon....
@Cobolman2: @Reilaos~:
And now I go to lap some yoghurt out of a bowl....
Wow I was just looking around last night trying to find out when these were going to be released.
Economic Stimulus Check + Eee PC 900 - Atom = 90% Happiness
Im waiting for the Atom powered version.
Whether the 900 or even the 700 (I would rather go for the 701 seeing as I've already got a mid-size lappie)
Did they put the right Shift key into the proper position? The Page Up key is where the shift key should be on the 701. eeeuser.com has a script for fixing it but it changes all the directional keys (a very minor annoyance). You'd think Asus would read the forums and fix this.
Anyone want to buy my 701 so I can get this?
I was in a store on London's Tottenham Court Road this evening, and was told they'd been promised a delivery of the new eee on April 28th, and they'd probably get my reserved 7" 4G at the same time... Now, can I justify the extra 80GBP to upgrade?
Decisions, decisions...
I will have 2 of the 12gb with win xp and 1 of the 20gb with Linux coming in by next week from hongkong. All are in white color.
see anyone want to buy one email me for picutre and price.
