The picture is all we have to go on, so what we can tell is this; it looks like an iPhone, but that probably isn't a real touchscreen. Sadly, we doubt it will be making any calls either. You know what they say; if it walks like a duck and it talks like a duck, chances are it is a duck. Well, in light of that information, we can rule out the possibility that it is a duck. I think we can slowly eliminate stuff it isn't in this fashion, eventually we'll get our answer. Alternatively, Eric, if you're reading, drop us a line and let us know what the hell's going on, buddy. [Flickr via Unplugged via winandmac]

Is that an iPhone in your pocket or are you just happy to be deformed?
Nice iPhone...
It looks like he's about to pass gas with that face. (iPhoooooot) :)
Stupid Apple - won't they ever learn?
Why the hell is Apple teaming up with HP to make giant iPhones? Didn't they learn from the whole HP-branded iPod fiasco? Guess not.
Well, look for a whole lot of people getting pissed off when their giant iPhones break down.
It's just a 22" wide screen HP monitor with a huge picture of the iPhone on it...slow Sunday eh guys?
seriously? you dont know what's going on? its an hp w2408 monitor...it rotates. he just has an iphone graphic fullscreen
@Rhodizzle: slow sunday - before this post they repeated a story on the uno motorbike segway but took it down after 30 mins max.
@krazydonutboy:
Really??????????? :)
He's just trying to compensate for a... small calling plan. Nothing to see here folks....
It's Jailbroken 1.0.1 software! So, it's an old pic. (Note: Calculator icon and the logo partially hidden by his hand in the 4th row.)
It looks like his monitor is turned sideways, and that that is just a picture. And, what the hell is up with his face?
@nut-bastard: But they got hits. (see Gawker Media pay arrangement)
@krazydonutboy: Oh my ****ing goodness, I would've never guessed. You are a genius, how could I be more like you?
/sarcasm
to be fair, this could actually be a touchscreen computer. To my understanding, they sell a 22 inch all in one computer... i think...
Topic is too boring for a tech comment, so let's talk about English:
1. I don't know where YOU live, but ducks in my area don't "talk". The phrase is "... quacks like a duck ...".
2. Both semicolons should be colons (or at least em-dashes).
3. I think you left out an "if" in the second to last sentence.
Even blogs should be proofed.
Yea I can clearly see the HP logo on the middle left side. From the black bezel it looks like their glossy line of consumer monitors (w2007, w2207, or w2407).
But yea, this is the same kinda thing you can see outside of Apple stores.
@Hap: No. Then they'd be newspapers.
Blogs aren't proofed. Any errors are deleted and treated as if they never existed - never with the strike-through feature. That's how blogs deal with questions about fact-checking.
So many bitter commenters today... Bring on the banhammer-enforced cheeriness!
@Hiphopopotamus: If gizmodo bans you do they eventually allow you to comment again or will you have to forever read gizmodo posts unable to comment on how long you spend on the computer or how many ipods you've had etc?
When it comes to *personal* communication devices, size, er, chatters!
@nut-bastard: Bans are eternal. The Banhammer even extends authority to Gizmodo Heaven / Hell.
whats that icon on the bottom left corner where the itunes store is supposed to be?
Anyone who can't tell that this is just a monitor rotated into portrait mode should go play in traffic and "thin the herd."
Why does everyone presume this is a large monitor, and not a tiny person?
Isn't that the same guy that did the huge windows mobile thing a while back?
found it: [gizmodo.com]
Not the same guy apperently but it is the same concept.
@OMG! Ponies!: dude are you honestly stupid?!?! haha ITS JUST A PICTURE DUMBASS! i bet when uyou saw that picture of steve being that creepy devil guy from star wars you thought that was reall too.
they had these at the apple stores.... the giant fake iphones in the windows....
Why did nutbastard lose his star?
O never mind. Its a fake (nut-bastard) as opposed to nutbastard. Poser.
@rbedi: thank you and gizmodo feel free to give me a star so as to complete my fakery. (fakery?) probably not a real word but im sure the real nutbastard would know a better word to use, so ask him. (hopefully not a nsfw word)
@bencarmeli: And this, folks, is why the wake-and-bake lifestyle, while alluring, is a bad thing.
Mr. Carmeli,
Please allow me to extend my most sincere apologies for not using the [sarcasm] tags.
I ordinarily take the "lowest common denominator" into account when employing such tags and felt that my above comment was so beyond the pale as to not necessitate their use. I was clearly mistaken in my judgment as to how gullible the browsing public is.
I'm sorry that you mistook my unique brand of tongue-in-cheek commentary on a lazy Sunday for genuine mockery of a highly successful business. It was a reference to the partnership whereby HP branded 5G iPods, which, based on anecdotal evidence, tended to be of poorer craftsmanship than Apple-made iPods. I am sorry that this reference was lost on you.
I regret that you thought that what was obviously a facetious remark (especially given the nature of photograph) was real. I didn't mean to upset you and I will be clearer in my ironic comments. I don't want anyone to miss out on my irony, regardless of his/her limited intellectual faculties.
A thousand pardons. In the future, I will take you into account when considering the foolishness of the blog-reading public.
Yours, etc.
omg-ponies
@OMG! Ponies!: All well and good, but you have yet to address the question of whether you accept as valid film stills used to illustrate posts. This is a literal website, sir. Whimsy is not welcome here.
I like jello.
@AmishJohn: i like jelly. (use an american to british translation)
