Hey, we just got one of those Livescribe Pulse Smartpens. You remember these, right? The Pulse is one of my favorite gadgets from the past year, because it'll do basic computing like math and translation via a paper UI. But more importantly for a reporter or student, or anyone who takes notes, it'll record voice notes that you can play back by clicking on the text you wrote at that moment. Pretty insane. More to come in a bit.

So long as it doesn't blow my spot when I use it to scribble dirty pictures in class, it's a DO WANT kind of deal.
please post the results when you show the product. now i have to wait like a commercial is on TV. SUCKS King Kong Balls!
I would have loved that in 6th grade, on a test. Oh if somebody could just invent a time machine already (*sighs).
It's a very cool device, but it's pretty much useless to me as long as it requires specialized paper.
The first device like this I'd buy will be the one that either works on standard paper (even if it has to be graph paper or something) or has a deal with a major paper manufacturer to make all their notebooks and paper compatible (so I'm not locked in to buying magic paper from the pen company).
Deliver that and you best believe you'll have my interest.
@typoink: I believe you can print out their paper from their website, for free. I don't think I'm going to run out and buy one, but if I were still a student I'd probably be all over it.
i dont get the appeal?
I'll wait for the "scan/take_picture-then-translate-over-smartphone/iPhone" device.
I'll only buy this if it doubles as an e-meter. I think I would find the security of being able to know how many thetans lurk inside me while I do homework comforting.
smartpenispulse. Hmm.
