Cox, the third biggest of the major cable providers, is going to start pushing TiVo Premiere boxes to its customers as what’s basically their “own” DVR solution. Usually, all you get is a lousy Motorola box.

What’s also special about this deal is that Cox will support all of their video on demand library available, and will provide free installation for TiVos you buy elsewhere (not through Cox). This kind of cable support is the kind of thing that TiVo really needs to infuse the type of cash and customer count to do something surprising and cool with their next-generation boxes. Plus, it’s good news for Cox customers too.
