No longer should IT managers get away with blocking Facebook on company computers, now Delta’s added the ability to book a flight right there in that open Facebook tab. Nevermind that your boss probably knows Delta takes bookings elsewhere.
Facebook users must download the Ticket Window app, which displays flight information for browsing and purchasing.
Why would you want to purchase a flight on Facebook, rather than on Delta’s own website, or even a flight comparison website? Presumably, so the details of said flight can be shared with Facebook friends.
Why this can’t be done via a status update or even direct message, I don’t know, but regardless of whether you or I would use this service, Delta should still be commended for its brave use of social-networking sites. It’s a murky world, I know. [Alvenda via Financial Times]
