HTC’s beginning to look like it got a good deal the other month, paying just $5 to Microsoft for every Androidphone it sells, compared to Samsung’s $15. These royalties are based on patents Microsoft holds, which Samsung’s utilizing for Android phones.

Samsung’s understood to be asking for a lower rate at $10 per device, if Microsoft is willing to form a “deeper alliance” on the Windows Phone 7 platform, according to Reuters. [Reuters]
