You know the saying “measure twice, cut once”? Looks like Apple’s measuring twice and cutting twice to overcome the battery issues that still plague iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S; the company will reportedly push another update next week to fix the problem. Fingers crossed.

The recent iOS 5.0.1 update was supposed to fix the draining-the-battery-at-incredible-speed issue. But while it gave owners of the original iPad multi-touch powers and squelched security vulnerabilities, it apparently did little to actually fix the battery problem. According to German site Macerkopf an Apple engineer says that Apple is working on a fix for the problem that will be ready by the end of next week.

The Apple engineer also told the site that the iOS 5.1 update (release TBD) will include new commands for Siri. But in the meantime you can work on telling Siri that you want to “take a picture,” “make a video,” and switch Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on and off. Does anyone else think asking Siri to “make a video” seems kinda creepy? [Macerkopf via Cult of Mac]
