The more I read about this, the more I want to go to China and punch all these idiots out of their underpants: people paying one dollar a month to add a “sent from my iPhone” to every message they send.
The reason? They can’t afford a real iPhone.
Here’s the ad from one of the vendors who offers this service, as found by the Financial Times’ Kathrin Hille:
The iPhone is too expensive. If you don’t want to spend that money, then fake it!
People who use this fake iPhone signature service are users of QQ, the world’s largest messaging tool, which is extremely popular in China.
Apparently, most people there can’t spend the $791 for the basic iPhone, but they want to appear as they have one. Not only they are willing to pay that money, but they are also willing to give their QQ passwords in order to make these services to work.
