It was rumored that the latest and greatest iPad would have the newest Gorilla Glass technology. Nothing was said about it when the iPad was revealed, but maybe they were hush hush about it. But after watching the latest gadget drop test from when gadget insurance provider SquareTrade that seems unlikely.
SquareTrade did a head-to-head drop test between the new iPad and the iPad 2, and the results were pretty much identical. Both suffered nearly identical fates in each test, with the screen breaking in both facedown drops. So yes, the screen might be prettier, but it isn’t any tougher. [SquareTrade]
