The Space Shuttle Is Sailing Around New York Today

Atten-shun, New Yorkers! This will not be as spectacular as her flyover on top of her 747 mothership, but it will be a great view for all of you: NASA's Space Shuttle Enterprise is going around New York right now!

Enterprise is en route to Port Elizabeth, New Jersey, where it will remain till Tuesday. Then a tugboat will move her to the Intrepid aircraft carrier. She will remain on top of the carrier until she gets into her permanent place in the new Space Shuttle Pavillion of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum:

Projected look out points include the Rockaways, Coney Island, Bay Ridge. The barge is set pass under the Verrazano Bridge around 5:30pm before it docks overnight in Bayonne, New Jersey. Here, crews will prepare space shuttle Enterprise for the second leg of her journey.

To give you an idea of when and where to look, it will go by the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge at 3:30pm, then Coney Island at 4:19pm and finally through the Verrazano Bridge at 5:30pm.

On Tuesday it will depart at 9:15am and sail past the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center at 10:40am, before she reaches her final destination at Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum at 11:30am. [Intrepid via NBC NYC]
