For serious construction projects a nailgun connected to a compressor is a vastly superior alternative to a hammer and nails. They're unfortunately a little expensive for home carpentry projects, but once again we can look to slingshot master Joerg Sprave for a solution to another of life's little problems. This time around he's created a pistol version of his nine-inch nail firing pump shotgun that can handle tamer three-inch carpentry nails.

On one hand it vastly reduces the risk of destroying your thumb with a misguided hammer blow, but on the other it doesn't look like the most accurate of carpentry tools. However, there's no denying it will finally get you excited for finishing those long-ignored deck repairs. [YouTube]
