The Samsung Galaxy S 4 Has Been Rooted Before It’s Even Available

Samsung’s new flagship Galaxy S 4 isn’t even on the shelves yet, but a team of dedicated tinkerers over at XDA Developers has already managed to root the thing.

That means that those who can’t resist getting under the skin of their phones will be able to do so immediately with the new S 4. One small caveat: the root only works (so far) with handsets packing the Exynos 5 Octa (rumor has it, some S 4s will initially ship with a Snapdragon 600 chip instead).

If you’re so inclined, you can find the necessary files over at XDA Developers. As ever, though, be careful, and probably don’t bother if you’re not at least vaguely confident about seeing the process through—because a bricked phone isn’t much fun to play around with.
