The New York Times has an awesome retrospective graphic that shows how al fresco seating has evolved all the way from 1889 to the present. Can you tell we’re excited for spring?

Check out the full graphic over at the Times. Because maybe you didn’t know the classic director’s chair first appeared all the way back in 1892. Or that the precursor to every modern folding chair is the 1938 Butterfly chair. But next time you’re perched on a patio, maybe you’ll think a little more about what your butt’s resting on.
