Jawbone Syncs Up With 10 New Partners, Acquires BodyMedia

Jawbone is acquiring BodyMedia, makers of health monitoring armbands, for over $100 million. No further details have been made public about the deal.

In other news, Jawbone is also opening up its API to third party developers for cross-app pollination. Version 2.5 of the iOS UP app, now includes 10 integrated services from IFTTT, LoseIt!, Maxwell Health, MapMyFitness, MyFitnessPal, Notch, RunKeeper, Sleepio, Wello and Withings for now. Once you connect the UP app with another, anything you do on one will be synced with the other. Others in the space, like Fitbit, have had this interoperability for some time.

Most intriguing is the IFTTT partnership, which allows you to set up a simple “if this then that” scenario for extra motivation. Skies the limit on what you can come up with, really. Take, for example, this:

Jawbone says that version 2.5 of the app will be coming soon to Android but is limited to iOS for now.
