Handoff is perhaps one of OS X Yosemite's coolest features, with its ability to pair your Mac and phone. But a new report by German outlet Apfeleimer suggests that only devices with Bluetooth 4.0 LE support will be able to take advantage of the feature.
The report claims that a Bluetooth 4.0 LE connection is required to establish a link between phone and computer. If that's true, it will mean that the oldest Macs to support Handoff will be the mid-2011 MacBook Air and the Mac mini. Obviously, everything launched since will work just fine. Of all the iOS 8-compatible devices, only the iPad 2 won't work with Handoff, if the claims in the report are true. So, if accurate, the feature is limited—but not by much. [Apfeleimer via BGR]
