3M’s USB 3.0 Monitor Wastes Two Ports While Saving Energy

This 18.5-inch screen doesn’t exactly look exciting with its 1366 x 768 resolution, but it has a secret: It draws about half the power of a standard monitor and it does it through two USB 3.0 ports.

The reason the monitor requires two USB 3.0 ports is that “a single USB 3.0 port can only deliver 7W” and the display requires 8W. That slight annoyance aside, it’s actually rather nice to see an eco-frindly USB-powered monitor. [Pocket Lint via CrunchGear]
