Joe R. Lansdale’s short story “Bar Talk” comes to life in this entertaining short film about a very unusual bar conversation. A friendly man sits down at a bar next to another patron and starts chatting him up with a wild story about spies from Mars. But why?

Bar Talk was directed by Lowell Northrop, and it’s hardly the first time that one of Lansdale’s stories has been adapted for film. His novella “Bubba Ho-Tep” was adapted as a feature with Bruce Campbell starring as Elvis Presley, and his stories “Christmas with the Dead,” “Incident On and Off a Mountain Road,” his novel Cold July, and more have gotten the film treatment. This particular short is just great, low-budget scifi fun.
