Look, we’ll tune into pretty much anything starring Martin Freeman—bonus points if it’s a horror movie that looks refreshingly smart and scary, despite having a relatively staid title: Ghost Stories.

Ghost Stories is about a professor (Andy Nyman, who also co-directs with Jeremy Dyson; the script’s based on their long-running stage play) whose skeptical outlook on the supernatural begins to crumble when he begins investigating a trio of what appear to be real hauntings. Freeman’s character, one of the people the professor meets on his would-be debunking quest, has a decidedly sinister gleam in his eye. It’s not his usual look, but it’s a good one.

Ghost Stories, which also stars Paul Whitehouse and Alex Lawther, is out this April.
