A Short Horror Film About the Perils of Choosing the Wrong Hashtag for Your Selfie

Lounging around at home, a bored teenage girl snaps a selfie and posts it to social media with the hashtag “#homealone.” When she checks to see the reaction a few minutes later, she realizes it suddenly reads “#notalone”—and a quick search reveals the hideously grisly fate she may soon face.

Sotiris Petridis and Dimitris Tsakaleas’s short—#NotAlone—has definite connective tissue to earlier horror films, like When a Stranger Calls or Scream, that prey on the fear of not being safe even when you’re alone in your own house. If the “heart” joke at the end is a little too obvious, the film still might make you consider your hashtags very, very carefully.
