Disney isn’t pretending it’s telling an entirely different story with the new live-action version of Beauty and the Beast. We all loved the original animated version, so just give us more of the shame. But this side-by-side comparison of the new trailer, versus the animated original, reveals just how similar the two films will be.
There’s not a lot of footage to work with given we only have a trailer for the 2017 version of Beauty and the Beast, but Moviepilot was still able to find quite a few similarities to Disney’s animated version from 1991. The beast looks a little more human, but we find it hard to believe Disney’s animators didn’t base Belle on Emma Watson, even though she was only born a year before the film’s release.
