It turns out that the AirPort is getting a bump in speed and a new name. AirPort Extreme (one would hope that Apple of all companies would have avoided giving it such a dumb name – but at least they didn’t spell it “Xtreme”) will use the new 802.11g standard for Wi-Fi, which is about five times faster than 802.11b.
