With operating costs in the pennies-per-gallon range, the AirWater corporation is hoping that its air water units will be used in areas where pumping fresh, potable water from the ground can be difficult or impossible. With various units available, in sizes ranging office water-cooler size to semi-truck mounted units, their positioning themselves across all sorts of different markets, from small business offices to military operations. They don’t ever exactly explain what process they’re using to extract water from the atmosphere, though, beyond “tapping into nature’s hydrologic cycle.” What’s promising, though, is their integration of the AirWater units with solar cells, meaning sanitized water could be gathered anywhere it is needed, even in disaster areas and remote locations. (Thanks, Chris!)

Update: Yes, it is working like a de-humidifier. I think you’ll find there’s a fair amount more work being done here to purify the water and what have you. At least that’s what they told me to say when they gave me all that company stock.
Update Update: For those with broken humor parsers, we haven’t actually received stock from the AirWater Corporation. And any reports that the AirWater corporation’s products are fired by the stolen souls of virgin children are, to the best of our knowledge, entirely false.
