The retro-fabulous Ambient Dashboard, which everyone should have heard of by now, combines modern technologies with analog VU meter style, giving you at-a-glance updates on all sorts of information—any information available on the web, according to Ambient. Basically just like the Ambient Orb we talked about a while back, except with analog needle meters instead of, well, a glowy orb thing. A big step up in my opinion with regards to style. Anyway, despite all the hope (by me, at least) that this thing would be out before the end of the year, I’m not so sure it’s goint to happen. The “alert me” mailing list has offered nothing. All my friends who might have otherwise gotten Ambient Dashboards for Christmas will have to settle for grilled cheeses and bottles of rotgut.
