A study in Sweden has found that 10-year users of analog mobile phones have about twice as much chance of developing acoustic neuroma than the average person. The acoustic neuroma are benign tumors on the auditory nerve that occur normally at a rate of about 1 in 100,000. Researchers are unsure if newer, digital mobile phones (like GSM) are as likely to promote the tumors as the devices haven’t been on the market nearly as long as the older, analog technologies. In related news, all delicious cakes are made of poison babies.
It’s not a cell phone-cancer link, thank god, but it’s sure to promote plenty of ‘anti-tumor’ technology to spring up anew on the racks of our local 7-11s.
