This may turn out to be the real BlackBerry killer. BSquare has released the specs for a device very reminiscent of Danger’s Hiptop. Called the Power Handheld, the device runs Windows CE .NET, and has a four-inch, 65,000 color LCD screen, 400MHz processor, 64MB of RAM and a built-in GSM phone. It looks like the Power Handheld will be aimed at corporate customers who want to give their employees a mobile communicator that’s more powerful than a BlackBerry. Plans are for BSquare to offer it only as a white-label to OEMs and wireless carriers.
RIM, the company behind BlackBerry, might start to feel a bit of a squeeze once the Power Handheld hits, what with Danger’s HipTop going after the teen and consumer markets, and BSquare clearly going after the enterprise market.
