Who said there’s no color at the poles? The crew of the HMS Protector visiting Port Lockroy, Antarctica surely didn’t—because this shot is far from white.

The Ice Patrol Ship is currently on her second visit to Antarctica in 2 years. During the Antarctic winter the British vessel has been carrying out Survey and Humanitarian and Disaster Relief operations in and around the Caribbean and the West Coast of Africa. Now, during the Antarctic Summer, the ship has returned to her usual task, to patrol and survey the Antarctic and South Atlantic. [LA(Phot) Jay Allen/Royal Navy]
