If you don’t plan to display your AirTag at all, Moment is making $15-$20 mounts made of different materials that you can stick inside of a bag, jacket, bike seat, and anything else you’re afraid will stray. The AirTag mounts are available in stretchy fabric or stiff plastic shell, and there’s even one that works on curved surfaces.
