Now Apple is claiming that it “has never made any offer to invest in or acquire a major music company,” a statement undoubtedly made in response to the mounting speculation that they were in talks to buy Universal Music. It’s still highly likely that the two companies were at least talking about a deal, even if it never got as far as Apple throwing out a figure.
