Arbitron is testing their new portable people meter, a device capable of tracking all media you’re exposed to throughout the day. The device relies on participating TV and radio stations that encode special inaudible audio markers in their programming. Arbitron is working on the next incarnation of the device, which will include RFID (for recording consumption of magazines, newspapers, your breakfast and the like) and GPS. The results of the device so far have shown that people are exposed to far more media than they either remember or admit to.
