Our friends at Lifehacker just pointed out a great use for that common household item, the coffee filter: Use it to soften up your flash photography.

Hold the coffee filter in front of that flash to make its light less specular, giving a soft glow to your close-ups. Just be careful not to hold it in front of the lens.
