Barbarian put Zach Cregger on the map as a horror filmmaker in 2022, but, despite being a cult hit, it never got a physical media release. That changes on August 11, when 20th Century Studios will release a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray SteelBook edition of the film.

Just last year, Cregger lamented Barbarian‘s lack of physical media release in an interview with Ringer Movies. “I have banged the drum and made phone calls and tried my best to get some sort of physical media, and I’m not making headway, and it kinda bums me out,” he said. Apparently, he finally made some headway, and we’re all better off for it.

The Barbarian SteelBook comes with some fun extras, including audio commentary with Cregger and producer Roy Lee, a “Behind Barbarian” featurette, and deleted scenes. Those all seem like the same bonus features that come with the digital version of the film, but it’ll still be nice to have them on a disc as well.

Barbarian follows Tess (Georgina Campbell) as she discovers that her Airbnb stay has been double-booked with Keith (Bill Skarsgård). For some unfathomable reason, she decides to just roll with it and stay in the house with a complete stranger. That, it turns out, is a very bad idea.

Cregger’s most recent film, Weapons, cemented him as a modern horror master and even snagged Amy Madigan an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her terrifying turn as Aunt Gladys. His next film, a foreboding-looking reboot of Resident Evil, hits theaters on September 18.

You can pre-order the Barbarian SteelBook starting on July 2 before it hits shelves in August.
