Young Adult series Divergent made a fairly big splash when it debuted as a feature film starring Shailene Woodley. But the second movie, Insurgent, will really have to kick it up a notch. So imagine our surprise when the first trailer is mostly an inexplicable, flying cement house.
The worst part? It’s all a dream, which is the crappiest surprise ever. Sure, the visuals are very striking and pretty and there is a very “da faq” element that I’m sure theater-goers who peeped this teaser may feel.
But overall, it kind of fails the franchise. There’s no gateway point into this world. Basically, Insurgent is failing to do what Catching Fire nailed: bringing in new people. Then again, it’s just a teaser trailer. I’m sure there’s much more to come that will help world-build this weird future society outside of “flying houses.”
Insurgent will hit theaters on March 20, 2015.
