HBO might be getting Stephen King’s Dark Tower but Showtime just landed Lost writer and Y: The Last Man creator Brian K. Vaughan to help them adapt his novel Under The Dome into an ongoing series.

Deadline is reporting that Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man) has been tapped by Showtime to pen the 2009 King novel (backed by DreamWorks Television). The story takes place in a little town in Maine that is suddenly quarantined by a giant forcefield (it literally cuts the town and some of its inhabitants off from the outside world).

Fingers crossed Vaughan can spruce up a few of the novel’s problem areas, but overall this could be a very exciting series!
