Cabasse Karissima Speakers: Sounds Like You’re There

Welcome to the stratosphere of speakerdom, where a company named Cabasse has been holding court for the past half-century. Now it’s making its Karissima speakers available in the US. Part of the company’s Artis series, the speakers look like a Cyclops with a robe wrapped around it, but its drivers are so refined, they’re said to be able to pump out sound way beyond human hearing, up to 25kHz. Your dog will just love this shit.

Cabasse brings some avant garde tech into the mix with these 154-lb monsters, using the company’s three-way “spatially coherent” system driver, whose tweeter and midrange diaphragms are made of something called polyether. Adding bottom to the festivities is a 12-inch woofer that the company patterned after its monster 22-inch Saturn sub, probably enough to rattle the rafters in the neighbors’ houses across the street. Speaking of rattling, check out the price after the jump, and take a gander at these beauties in the gallery below.

What might really rattle you is the price—they’re $24,400 apiece. Sheesh. For the cost of a 5.1 system, you could have a couple of really nice cars, or perhaps hire a chamber orchestra every weekend for a few years.
